Small business website FAQ
Plain answers to the questions business owners ask most about cost, timelines, getting found on Google, and what a website needs.
Cost and timeline
How much does a website cost for a small business?
Our starting prices are $600 for a Starter site and $1,500 for a Standard site, with custom quotes for bigger projects and an optional care plan starting at $79/month. Your exact price depends on how many pages you need, which features you want (like booking, ordering, or a gallery), and how much writing and photo help you need. Fill out the short questionnaire and we will come back to you with a quote based on your actual project.

What affects the price of a small business website?
The biggest factors are the number of pages, custom features such as online booking or ordering, how much copywriting and photo guidance you need, and whether you are replacing an existing site. A simple 5-page site is a very different project from a site with a store or booking system.
How long does it take to build a website for a small business?
It depends on the size of the site and, honestly, how quickly we can get your photos, text, and feedback. Smaller sites generally move faster than sites with booking, ordering, or lots of pages. After you complete the questionnaire we will give you a realistic timeline for your project.

What do I need to get started?
Just your business basics: what you offer, where you are, your hours, and how customers should contact you. A logo and photos help, but if you do not have them yet, we will tell you what to gather. The questionnaire walks you through it.
Getting found on Google
How do I get my business to show up on Google?
Two things matter most: a website that clearly states what you do, who you serve, and how to reach you, and (if you serve a local area) a complete, accurate Google Business Profile. We build the website side with search in mind and give you guidance on keeping your listings consistent.

Will my new website rank number one on Google?
No honest web designer can promise a specific ranking, because search results depend on many factors, including competition in your market. What we can do is build your site with strong search fundamentals: clear page titles, good structure, fast loading, mobile-friendly design, and business information search engines can read.
Do I need a website if I already have a Facebook page or Google Business Profile?
Social pages and listings are great, but you do not control them and they cannot say everything you want to say. A website is the one place that is entirely yours: your story, your services, your hours, and a clear way for customers to reach you. It also gives your Google listing a trustworthy place to point to.
What is SEO, and what is local SEO?
SEO (search engine optimization) is making it easier for the right people to find your business when they search. Local SEO is the same idea for customers near you, for example “hair salon near me” or “roofing contractor in my town.” It includes your website, your Google Business Profile, and consistent business details across the web. If you sell online or serve customers anywhere, we focus on the broader search basics instead.
Website basics
What should a business website include?
At minimum: what you do, who you serve (and where, if location matters), your hours, a clear way to contact you, book, or buy, and real photos. Trust builders like licenses, certifications, and honest reviews you have permission to share are a plus.
Will my website work well on phones?
Yes. Every site we build is designed mobile-first, because most people browse on a phone. That means tap-to-call buttons, readable text, and layouts that adapt to any screen size.
What kinds of businesses do you build websites for?
Any business. Restaurants, salons, contractors, and shops are some of the businesses we build for most, and we also work with consultants, coaches, online stores, freelancers, nonprofits, and new ventures. See our pages for restaurants, salons, contractors, shops, or any business.

What is the difference between a domain name and web hosting?
A domain name is your web address (like yourbusiness.com). Hosting is where your website files live so people can visit them. If you already own a domain, tell us in the questionnaire. If you are not sure, we can explain your options in plain English.
Can I update my website myself?
It depends on how your site is set up, and on how often your content changes. Let us know what changes most (menu, specials, schedule, projects) in the questionnaire and we will recommend the simplest approach.
